“We were the first club in Hawaii to do this, and now it is done all over, including in Honolulu and Hilo,” said Al Mehlhouse, the secretary and treasurer of the KHPC. “The whole idea is to introduce new players to the game and have fun.”

A total of 20 people attended the event, and they were divided up into 10 teams of two, with an above average player being teamed up with an average player to keep the tournament competitive.

In a playoff for first place, the team of Linda Taketa and Rudy Mockchew Sr. defeated Nalani Kukua and Bill Phelps 50-31.

Prizes were given out through the event and included turkeys, hams and cases of soda.

Money raised from the tourney will benefit the Food Bank.
